We seek an experienced Senior Drill and Blast Supervisor to join our dedicated Operations. The successful candidate will be an experienced drill and blast supervisor, engineer, or superintendent that has worked as an expatriate in an off-shore operation.

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will lead and manage the Drill and Blast team ensuring safe production, achievement of production targets and management of drill and blast costs.

The following selection criteria apply to this role:

  • At least 10 years of relevant drill and blast experience (D65, L1100 & Orica)
  • Expatriate experience leading diverse teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven experience in meeting targets and tight deadlines
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role
  • Experience working a Fly-In Fly-Out roster
  • Mining Engineering degree preferred
  • Practical maintenance experience on Atlas Copo and Sandvik Blast hole drills (highly regarded)
  • Previous mining experience in PNG, Asia, or Africa (highly regarded)

The Senior Drill and Blast Supervisor will be accountable for:

  • Contributing to ensuring the health and safety of all personnel in the Mining Department
  • Providing leadership and management of the Drill & Blast team
  • Coaching and mentoring of Technical, Maintenance and Operational teams to enhance best practice in blast designs, drill production, maintenance practices and overall operational perspectives
  • Coaching and mentoring Technical and Operational teams regarding task and priority scheduling to optimise efficiency
  • Providing improvements to safe production performance
  • Meeting budget for drill production and blasted rock
  • Ensuring Drill and Blast costs are on or below budget
  • Ensuring all crew members are aware of their specific shift targets
  • Ensuring the Mining Department is compliant with the Critical Risk Audit

This is a Fly-In Fly-Out position on a 21 days on, 14 days off roster. Point of Hire for this role is restricted to the east coast of Australia.
